ISTE Coaching Standard & Indicator 2g: Coach teachers in and model effective use of technology tools and resources to continuously assess student learning and technology literacy by applying a rich variety of formative and summative assessments aligned with content and student technology standards.
The following are examples of how I show competency in ISTE coaching indicator 2g.
In collaboration with the social studies instructional specialist, we developed a professional learning workshop for teachers to learn about and apply a wide variety of formative and summative assessment tools and strategies. Our training was relevant to a wide audience of K-12 instructors of all subject areas. The teachers explored tools that would be most relevant to their content and they could use seamlessly in their instruction and assessment.
Student-developed rubrics using Google Docs and assessments created in Google forms were used with 6th grade students in a debate project. I supported the teacher in modeling the technology tools with her students during the project. The teacher has since used both forms of assessments in additional coursework. Read about the project and process in the blog post below.
Second grade teachers were seeking a specific way to assess speaking and listening standards within their social studies community project. We practiced with Flipgrid and decided to use it as our assessment tool. Since, teachers are using Flipgrid in other creative ways to promote and practice effective communication strategies.
