Over the last 2 years as an SPU graduate student in the Master of Ed Digital Education Leadership Program, I am naturally gaining content knowledge and growing professionally. As a digital learning specialist, I am additionally tasked with showing competence with ISTE Coaching Standard 6:
Technology coaches demonstrate professional knowledge, skills and dispositions in content, pedagogical and technological areas as well as adult learning and leadership and are continuously deepening their knowledge and expertise.
I balance learning the technology tools and how to seamlessly integrate them into best practice with learning how to lead with adult learners. I independently seek out learning opportunities in areas where I need growth and that will support the students and staff I serve. I am grateful for a school system which provides regular professional learning opportunities that support specialists’ work with teachers. Read about my experiences and evidence as a digital learning specialist that demonstrate skills and accomplishments of ISTE Coaching Standard 6 in the following indicators:
a. Engage in continual learning to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge in technology integration and current and emerging technologies necessary to effectively implement the ISTE Standards for Students and ISTE Standards for Teachers.
b. Engage in continuous learning to deepen professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions in organizational change and leadership, project management and adult learning to improve professional practice.
